April 28 Tornado / Serious Storms:
o Because of the cancelled school day on April 28 due to the tornado, we have applied to PDE for and have been granted an exception for the elementary level and an early release for the secondary levels. This means that we will not need to make up the day, allowing the students’ last day and graduation to proceed on Wednesday, June 8. We exceed the required 990 hours of instruction at all levels.
o Projections are that the MS roof damage will be approximately $35,000 plus the damage to the box, food delivery truck.
Forewarned:
o Local police officers from North Londonderry will be conducting seat belt awareness checkpoints at the HS between May 23 and June 8 as an education experience as well as a public service.
o We conducted a surprise, drug dog sweep at the HS. This was done in conjunction with Northern Lebanon police and Lebanon County K-9 division. I am pleased to announce that the dogs had no hits or drug finds. This was done primarily as a preventive measure and part of our safety goal.
o The rest of the school year will fly quickly with end of year art shows; band, choral, and orchestra programs; spring sports; prom; awards evenings; and graduation.
