Recognition:
- Senior Benjamin Cicchillo has been named a National Merit Semi-Finalist for 2013.
- MS music teacher Alexis Farrell has been working with PDE to provide input into how 8th grade general music teachers might possibly be measured for teacher effectiveness on the new teacher evaluation tool.
Dress Code:
Parents and students have been informed about
changes in our dress code in numerous ways over the last 3-4 months including
the use of AlertNow, mailings, and
our website. The first day of school HS principals met with each grade for a
welcome back assembly which included the dress code information. I am pleased
to announce that the change has been a non-issue. There have been very few
violations of the new guidelines and the few that were addressed were received well.
Enrollment:
The 2012-2013 school year began with a student enrollment
of 3,342, a 62 students increase from the 2011-2012 start, which was 3,280. This
compares to enrollment of 3,230 on August 31, 2010.

Back to School Nights:
Back to school Nights
occurred every night this week, including the HS which is occurring tonight.
The evenings have been quite well attended, however, we would love to see 100%
participation which does not happen.
Cyber Schooling:
The Cougar Academy, as of today, has 35
students. Two of them have an IEP. They include full and blended or hybrid
programs. We see this as great news that these students are part of our
district and have the flexibility to meet their learning needs in ways that are
unique while meeting our rigorous expectations.
Homecoming:
This week we are celebrating homecoming.
Students and staff in the buildings are building school spirit by wearing
special colors or themed clothes. Tomorrow is black and orange day with the pep
rally at 10 AM, the parade is at 6 PM, and the football game at 7:30 PM. The
dance will be Saturday evening.
